Safeguarding Policy
The community of Benedictine Nuns at Turvey Abbey offers hospitality to people of every faith and none. Their life of prayer and service stems from their call by God to love God and love their neighbour. Saint Benedict, echoing Christ, calls each member of the community to love, respect and value each other and all their guests.
The Priory of Our Lady of Peace CIO (Turvey Abbey) is committed to safeguarding all
children and adults. For the Priory of Our Lady of Peace this commitment directly
relates to the fact that we are all made in the image of God and the Church’s common
belief in the preciousness, dignity and uniqueness of every human life. We start from the
principle that each person has a right to expect the highest level of protection, love,
encouragement and respect. The Nuns recognise the absolute necessity of ensuring the
safety of all whom they serve, and all the Nuns who are in any kind of ministry obtain
clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Priory of Our Lady of Peace is
contracted with the Religious Life Safeguarding Service (RLSS) and the Catholic
Safeguarding Standards Agency (CSSA)
