Platinum Jubilee!
I remember getting a name muddled. It was 1953, and I had just turned four years old. Mum had carnations in her little garden in Liverpool, and I was calling them ‘coronations’ it was a word I had heard a lot, it must have been the main news that summer. I remember the flags flying and the streets decorated, I remember the Queen coming to Liverpool, that was in 1954, the procession of cars drove past, Mum was excited and was wondering why I looked puzzled—I was looking for someone wearing a crown!
Seventy years later, a different world, not a particularly happy world at the moment, but even so let us all join together to congratulate Her Majesty on seventy years of doing a very hard job.
We at Turvey Abbey wish Her Majesty many blessings and much enjoyment during her Platinum Jubilee celebrations!
