Sr Goedele M. De Belder

20 August 1935 –  20 July 2021

Sister Goedele was aged 85, and in the 60th year of her religious profession.

She was born at Antwerp, Belgium, in 1935, and made her monastic profession at Schotenhof, Belgium, in 1962. She came to England and made her final profession at Cockfosters, London. At Cockfosters she taught the reception class at the Vita et Pax school.

The community moved to Turvey in 1981 and friendships forged with families at Cockfosters continued at Turvey. The move to Turvey was a new beginning and Sr Goedele turned her hand to a variety of things. She had a life-long concern for the welfare of children and prayed regularly for children throughout the world. She had contact with people from all walks of life, fostering ecumenism through friendship. Many will remember her for her genuine interest in their lives and work.
