THINE BE THE GLORY, RISEN, CONQUERING SON’

At the age of ninety-four, in the fifty-first year of her profession our beloved sister

ANNE MARY LAWS, O.S.B.

was called by God into the fullness of LIFE and PEACE on

10 October 2007

Ivy Irene Mary Laws was born in Strood in 1913 and worked in childcare before joining the Auxiliary Territorial Service during the Second World War. While on active service in Belgium she discovered our motherhouse in Schotenhof, to which she became affiliated first as an oblate and then as a nun. She made her profession at Schotenhof in 1957 before moving to Ravenswood Priory at Strood. The Sisters from Strood joined the Turvey community in 1984, after which Sr Anne served as our oblate mistress and instructor of postulants. She shared her delight in literature, wordplay, and song with all of us and was an example of cheerful perseverance through many years of declining health.
